Sep. 3 2008 Seminar: The Ethical Duties of Supervisory Lawyers
The program will explain the ethical rules governing the duties of law firm attorneys towards each other and over subordinate lawyers and staff in the management of client matters (ABA Model Rules 5.1 et seq. and state equivalent rules). The presenters will discuss the cases that demonstrate how these rules are enforced, and the potential consequences to individual lawyers and to their firms when these rules are ignored, and how practice group management can be used to develop risk management structures that address these ethical obligations as well as to provide wider benefits to law firms. The program will also review the nature and scope of reciprocal duties of subordinate lawyers to their supervisors and law firms.
Attorneys can earn one (1) hour of MCLE for Ethics
